General information

TERELJ BOARDING SCHOOL — ADMISSIONS POLICY FOR THE 2026–2027 ACADEMIC YEAR

This policy governs the admission of students to Terelj Boarding School, a general education school.

1. Admission

  • We admit students to Grades 4–12.
  • Each class has 15 to 26 students.
  • Applicants must have completed all paperwork and settled all fees with their previous school.
  • Because the school is in a remote location and medical help may take time to arrive, applicants must not have any serious medical conditions.

2. Application process

  • Stage 1: Complete a short online application form.
  • Stage 2: Sit English and Mathematics placement tests. Applicants from schools abroad or from international-curriculum schools also sit a science test so their grades can be matched.
  • Stage 3: Complete a personality and temperament assessment.
  • Stage 4: Students who pass the placement tests and assessment attend individual and joint interviews with their parent or guardian, in person or online.
  • Results and whether the student has passed to the next stage are sent by email and phone within 48 hours of each test.
  • Students with an overall average of 70% or above across the four stages are offered a place, confirmed by signing a contract.

3. Fees

  • The annual fee is MNT 29,000,000 (twenty-nine million tögrög).
  • Paying the deposit secures the student's place, and a three-party School–Student–Parent contract is signed.
  • If fees are not paid by the stated deadline, the registration is cancelled.
  • If a family withdraws in writing, the place-confirmation payment is refunded minus 10%.
  • Students from outside Ulaanbaatar who stay in the boarding house over weekends pay an additional MNT 3,200,000 (three million two hundred thousand tögrög). These students must go home for the last week of every month (21/7 schedule). Weekend rules and responsibilities are set out in an annex to the contract.

Discounts

  • Pay 50% of the fee by 10 June 2026 and study at last year's rate of MNT 27,000,000 (twenty-seven million tögrög).
  • Pay 30% of the fee by 10 June 2026 and receive MNT 1,000,000 off, for a total of MNT 28,000,000 (twenty-eight million tögrög).
  • Siblings: the second child from the same family receives a 10% discount on tuition.
  • Siblings: the third child from the same family receives a 20% discount on tuition.
  • Families who do not register and confirm their place by the deadline are not eligible for discounts.

The fee includes:

  • Tuition
  • Textbooks
  • Boarding accommodation
  • Three meals a day, snacks and dairy products
  • Bus transport
  • Electives, clubs and development programmes

The fee does not include:

  • International exam fees (Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, AS, A Level, IELTS, SAT, HSK, etc.), paid directly to the exam centre at that year's exchange rate.
  • CIALFO university-guidance platform registration (senior grades)
  • School uniform set: MNT 450,000 (four hundred fifty thousand tögrög)

4. Required documents

Students who pass selection and pay the deposit will receive by email a health form, a packing list and the list of required documents (copies of the parents' or guardians' national ID cards, a copy of the child's birth certificate, and proof of residential address). Prepare these as instructed, put them in a folder and hand them to the homeroom teacher on arrival.

  • Students with incomplete documents will not be admitted.
  • Students transferring from schools abroad or from international schools in Mongolia (ASU, BSU, ISU, MOKhS, etc.) must have their grades converted to the Mongolian education assessment by the relevant authority, and must bring an official letter permitting enrolment in the relevant grade.

5. Mid-year admission

  • Students joining mid-year continue in the grade they were already in.
  • Students who transfer in after the year begins (September–December) pay the full annual fee. Students who join from the second term pay 100% of the half-year fee, regardless of their start date.
